The CIA report on the Khashoggi case and Joe Biden's subsequent statements clearly demonstrate the responsibility of the Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, for the murder of the Saudi journalist. On the anniversary of Khashoggi's death on 2 October 2020, Fight Impunity called for clarity and speed in identifying responsibility. Our initiative has today been positively confirmed by the action of the US President, who has expressed his willingness to 'reshape' diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia in light of the facts that have emerged. It would be desirable and appropriate for the European Union to take initiative in this direction, adopting the appropriate measures and supporting those in Saudi Arabia who are fighting for the protection of fundamental human and social rights. Il rapporto della CIA sul caso Khashoggi e le conseguenti dichiarazioni di Joe Biden dimostrano palesemente le responsabilità del principe ereditario, Mohammed bin Salman, quale mandante dell'uccisione del giornalista saudita. In occasione dell'anniversario della morte di Khashoggi, lo scorso 2 ottobre, Fight Impunity sollecito' chiarezza e celerità nell'individuazione delle responsabilità. La nostra iniziativa, oggi ha avuto una positiva conferma nell'azione del Presidente degli USA che ha espresso la volontà di "rimodulare" i rapporti diplomatici con l'Arabia Saudita alla luce dei fatti che sono emersi. Sarebbe auspicabile ed opportuno che anche l'Unione europea prendesse una iniziativa in tal senso, adottando le adeguate misure e sostenendo quanti in Arabia Saudita si battono per la tutela dei fondamentali diritti umani e sociali.
